Monoform Is A No Dig Approach To Complete Manhole Structural Restoration

MONOFORM is an ABS plastic interior forming system which allows the pouring of ready mixed concrete to rehabilitate existing sanitary sewer manholes, eliminating infiltration and restoring structural integrity from within the existing manhole.

Why It’s More Effective To Start With Manholes

Comparison of I/I* Contribution vs Cost of Rehabilitation

30% of overall I/I contribution starts at the Manholes. Which is why it’s important that we point out manhole rehabilitation utilizing the Monoform system would only account for 10% of the Overall Cost of System Rehabilitation.

This makes manholes an excellent starting point when it comes to your municipality’s next works project.

*Excess water that flows into sewer pipes from groundwater and stormwater is called infiltration and inflow , or I/I. Groundwater (infiltration) seeps into sewer pipes through holes, cracks, joint failures, and faulty connections. Stormwater (inflow) rapidly flows into sewers via roof drain downspouts, foundation drains, storm drain cross-connections, and through holes in manhole covers. Most I/I is caused by aging infrastructure that needs maintenance or replacement.

Reasons for Manhole Loss of Structural Integrity

  • Leaks through precast joints
  • Leaks around stub outs
  • Cracks caused by shifting and expanding soil
  • Leaking manhole rings
  • Traffic Loading
  • Shifting and expanding soil
  • Groundwater loading
  • Temperature variation
  • Sulfide rich effluents
  • Warm/humid environment
  • Long retention times

Proactive vs Reactive

The benefits of being proactive outweigh the risks of being reactive when it comes to manhole replacement.  By taking a proactive approach and utilizing Monoform technology, we’re able to avoid some of the pitfalls that come with being reactive such as:

  • Disruption of service to your community
  • Traffic tie-ups and detours
  • Disruption of other utilities in the path of excavation
  • Street restoration cost and problems with poor compaction
  • Noise and the dragging of dirt into businesses and homes
  • Eliminate settling compaction issues usually related to conventional replacement process

Cost Comparison

Average price of a proactive Monoform rehabilitation can be approximately 70-80% less vs approximately $15,000.00 or more over the life span of other rehabilitation methods or when taking a reactive approach to damage control using traditional manhole replacement methods should a failure occur.
